Clear Google's leftovers from Hitta, Ratsit and MrKoll
After you've removed yourself from these three sites, Google can keep showing old copies for weeks: surname lists on Hitta, and your neighbours' pages on Ratsit and MrKoll. This page collects those links from Google and prepares them for Google's removal form, 20 links at a time. Your name and the links stay in this browser.
1First, add the Kolla själv bookmark
One bookmark does both jobs. On Google's results, it collects the links page by page. On Google's removal form, it fills in your country, your name, the links and the reason. It takes a minute to set up and saves a lot of copying.
- Show the bookmarks bar: ⌘ Cmd + Shift + B (Ctrl + Shift + B on Windows).
- Drag the yellow button up onto that bar.
Can't drag it? Make the bookmark by hand
Make a new bookmark called "Kolla själv" and paste this as its address:
When you've sent all your links, you can delete the bookmark: right-click it on the bar and choose Delete. Rather not add a bookmark? Steps 3 and 4 each have a "No bookmark?" part, for doing it by hand.
2Your name
The bookmark puts this name on Google's form, so use your own full name. Check it if your browser filled it in for you.
3Collect the links
Be signed in to your Google account. When you're signed out, Google hides the real links.
- Press a site's button below. Google opens in a new tab with that site's old results for your name.
- On the Google tab, click the Kolla själv bookmark. It saves the links and goes on to the next page by itself. Click the bookmark once on every page.
- After the last page, you're back here with all the links added. Then do the next site.
No bookmark? Copy and paste instead
On the Google tab, press ⌘ Cmd + A and then ⌘ Cmd + C (Ctrl on Windows). Come back, click the box below and press ⌘ Cmd + V. Do this for every page.
4Send them to Google, 20 links per request
Google's form takes at most 20 links, so you send one request for every 20.
- Press Open Google's form. It opens the form in a new tab and gets the next 20 links ready for the bookmark.
- On the form, click the Kolla själv bookmark. It fills in Sweden as your country, your name, the 20 links and the reason for each. If Chrome asks to see your clipboard, allow it.
- Check what it filled in (change the country if you live somewhere else), tick the three statements and sign. Then submit.
- Come back here and press Mark them as sent. Then do the next 20 the same way.
No bookmark? Fill in the form by hand
Press Open Google's form above. Then copy each link below into its own "Allegedly infringing URL" box on the form (press Add URL there for more boxes), and paste the reason into each "Explain in detail" box.
Approved links stop showing when someone searches your name. Your neighbours' pages still show for their own names. Google decides each request case by case, and it can take a while.
