Remove yourself from Ratsit: step by step with BankID
Short answer
Go to ratsit.se/tabort, tick the box about Ratsit’s warning and press “Ta bort dig från Ratsit” (remove yourself from Ratsit). Then identify yourself with BankID. It takes up to 24 hours, and Ratsit sets no time limit on how long you stay removed. Without BankID, Ratsit’s customer service helps you.
Ratsit shows the address, age, phone number, household and much more about almost everyone who lives in Sweden. You can remove yourself with BankID on Ratsit’s own page. It’s free, takes a couple of minutes, and within 24 hours you’re gone.
How to remove yourself from Ratsit
- Open Ratsit’s page Ta bort dig från Ratsit (remove yourself from Ratsit).
- Tick the box saying you’ve read Ratsit’s warning (more on it below). The “Ta bort dig från Ratsit” button stays greyed out until the box is ticked.
- Press the button and identify yourself with BankID.
- Wait up to 24 hours, then search for your name on Ratsit. Kolla själv builds the search for you.
If you don’t have BankID, see Without BankID below.
How long are you removed from Ratsit?
Ratsit sets no time limit. Neither the removal page nor Ratsit’s FAQ says that you’ll come back after a certain time. When we removed ourselves in October 2026, the confirmation only said that the data is removed.
Many guides online still say you’re only removed for 12 months. Ratsit doesn’t say that. The only thing Ratsit writes about 12 months is about its paid service Självbevakning (self-monitoring), not about removal.
Ratsit updates its registers every day, so check again after a move. Kolla själv can add a reminder to your calendar.
Ratsit warns about side effects
Before you remove yourself, Ratsit asks you to confirm that you understand the consequences. Ratsit writes that individuals, authorities and companies use the site to find addresses, for example postal workers, florists, energy companies, municipalities and insurers. Some companies also run background checks with Ratsit’s credit reports. According to Ratsit, removing yourself can make it harder to sign agreements with them.
We haven’t been able to check how often this causes problems. MrKoll and Merinfo give the same warning. If a company won’t accept you, ask whether you can prove your address another way.
Without BankID
Ratsit says its customer service helps people who don’t have BankID. Write to them through the contact form. Ratsit normally replies within 24 hours on weekdays.
You can also request erasure under the GDPR. Email gdpr@ratsit.se, Ratsit’s address for questions about personal data. Ratsit holds a publishing certificate (utgivningsbevis), and sites with one usually say the GDPR doesn’t apply to what they publish. Kolla själv writes the email for you, and the page about the law explains where things stand today.
If you want to show up again
If you change your mind, you can add yourself back at ratsit.se/laggtillperson. According to Ratsit, it can take up to 48 hours.
What remains
- Google. Search results that lead to your Ratsit page can stay for a while, until Google reads the page again. You can ask Google to remove them. Here’s how.
- The Swedish Tax Agency. Ratsit’s data comes from public authorities, and it stays there. Anyone can ask Skatteverket for your address.
- Other sites. MrKoll, Hitta, Merinfo, Eniro and others show the same kind of data. Read how to remove yourself from them, or check where you’re listed straight away.

Questions
How long does it take to remove yourself from Ratsit?
Up to 24 hours, according to Ratsit. Old search results on Google can stay longer, until Google reads the page again.
Is the removal permanent, or will I be back after 12 months?
Ratsit sets no time limit, and when we removed ourselves, the confirmation only said that the data is removed. The 12 months comes from other people’s guides, not from Ratsit. Check again after a move all the same.
Can I remove myself from Ratsit without BankID?
Yes. Ratsit says its customer service helps people without BankID. Write to them through the contact form at ratsit.se/kontakt, or send an erasure request under the GDPR to gdpr@ratsit.se.
Can I change my mind and show up on Ratsit again?
Yes. Ratsit has a page for that, ratsit.se/laggtillperson. According to Ratsit, it can take up to 48 hours before you show up again.
Why do I still show up on Google?
Google shows the result until it has read the page again, which can take anything from a few days to several weeks. You can ask Google to remove the result straight away, because it shows your contact details.
