Remove yourself without BankID – even if you’ve left Sweden

Läs på svenska

Short answer

It can be done, it just takes longer. Ratsit and Hitta help through customer service, Merinfo has a form, and MrKoll, Eniro and Birthday take email. Google can hide the search results without BankID. If you’ve moved abroad, you don’t disappear automatically: SPAR keeps your details for five years.

Almost every people-search site wants you to identify yourself with BankID before you remove yourself. If you don’t have BankID, for example because you’ve moved away from Sweden, there are other routes. They take longer, but they work. These are the routes the sites themselves give.

Have you moved away from Sweden?

If you’ll live abroad for at least a year, you have to tell the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). Without a Swedish e-ID you do it with the paper form Notification, Moving Abroad (SKV 7665b). Skatteverket: Moving away from Sweden.

But don’t count on disappearing from the sites by yourself:

  • SPAR keeps you for five years. The sites buy data from the state population address register (SPAR). Skatteverket sends your new address abroad there, and SPAR only deletes your details five years after you’ve moved.
  • The sites differ. MrKoll, for example, says it keeps publishing people who have emigrated, and that publishing may stop if the person doesn’t come back for a long time.

So remove yourself on the sites too, using the routes below.

Site by site, without BankID

  • Ratsit. Ratsit says its customer service helps people without BankID. Write through the contact form, or send an erasure request under the GDPR to gdpr@ratsit.se. The address kundservice@ratsit.se, which many guides mention, isn’t on Ratsit’s own pages. With BankID it’s quicker at ratsit.se/tabort.
  • MrKoll. Email hej@nusvar.se. Nusvar runs MrKoll. In its reply to us, MrKoll said it first needs to verify who you are and pointed to BankID, so reply and ask how else you can prove your identity. With BankID, use MrKoll’s removal page.
  • Hitta. Hitta’s own route requires BankID, but according to its privacy policy it can hide your details by agreement with you. Write through the chat on Hitta’s customer service site, or by post to Hittapunktse AB, St. Eriksgatan 119, 113 43 Stockholm. With BankID: Ta bort kontaktsida (remove contact page).
  • Merinfo. Download Merinfo’s form, fill it in and send it with a copy of your ID to info@merinfo.se, or by post to Merinfo, Lona Knapes gata 5, 421 32 Västra Frölunda. With BankID: Ta bort mig från Merinfo.se (remove me from Merinfo).
  • Eniro. Email Eniro’s customer service for private customers, privatpersoner@eniro.com, or its data protection officer, dataprotectionoffice@eniro.com. With BankID: Uppdatera personuppgifter (update personal details).
  • Birthday.se. Email info@birthday.se. Birthday’s own page says that’s enough. If they reply with a link to Mina Uppgifter, where you log in with BankID, reply that you don’t have BankID and ask them to delete you anyway.

To the other sites you can send an erasure request under the GDPR. Kolla själv writes the email for you, and you send it from your own email.

Google works without BankID

You need a Google account, but no BankID. Ask Google to remove results that show your address or phone number, and they no longer show up when someone searches for your name. The Results about you tool isn’t available in every country yet. If it isn’t where you are, use Google’s longer form instead. Here’s how.

Be careful with paid services

Services that charge to remove you do the same things you can do yourself, for free. And you hand your details to yet another company. RaderaNamn, despite its name, is a people-search site that itself charges 499 kr to remove you.

And the GDPR?

The sites hold publishing certificates (utgivningsbevis) and say the GDPR doesn’t apply to what they publish. Since the EU Court’s ruling in July 2026, that is no longer a given, so an erasure request is worth sending. The sites may say no. If so, keep the reply. Where the law stands now.

Questions

Can you remove yourself from Hitta without BankID?

Hitta’s own route requires BankID. According to Hitta’s privacy policy, it can instead hide your details by agreement with you. Write through the chat at support.hitta.se, or by post to Hittapunktse AB, St. Eriksgatan 119, 113 43 Stockholm.

Can you remove yourself from Ratsit without BankID?

Yes. Ratsit says its customer service helps people without BankID. Write through the contact form at ratsit.se/kontakt, or send an erasure request under the GDPR to gdpr@ratsit.se.

Do I disappear from the sites if I move abroad?

Not necessarily. The Swedish Tax Agency passes your new address to SPAR, which keeps your details for five years after the move, and MrKoll says it keeps showing people who have emigrated. Remove yourself on the sites too.

Do I have to send a copy of my ID?

Merinfo asks for one with its form. The others don’t say in advance what they need, so only send what a site asks for.

Does it cost anything?

No. All the routes here are free. Be careful with services that charge to do it for you: you can do the same yourself, and you hand your details to yet another company.
