Who can see what you earn? How your income ends up on Ratsit and Kollalön

Short answer
Your assessed income is public at Skatteverket, and anyone can ask for it. Ratsit and Kollalön sell it for 39 and 9 kr, and the person you look up never finds out. A credit report is different: then you get a notice. You can’t stop it completely, but you can remove yourself from several of the sites.
What you earn is public as a rule. Anyone can ask the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), and several sites sell it for a few dozen kronor. Ratsit says it sells its income check more than three million times a year.
What’s public at Skatteverket
According to Skatteverket, your assessed earned income is public from the 2023 income year, as is the tax Skatteverket has decided. For 2022 and earlier, income from employment and income from business are public separately. Your full tax return, on the other hand, isn’t released to anyone else without your consent.
Anyone can request the details, for example by calling Skatteverket, without saying who they are. Skatteverket also says it often passes assessed incomes and decided taxes to municipalities and certain credit reference agencies. Skatteverket: Public and confidential information (in Swedish).
SPAR, the state address register many companies buy data from, also holds your income. But SPAR may only give it to the Police, the Security Service and Customs.
How the sites sell your income
- Ratsit, Lönekollen. 39 kr for salary and capital income from the latest tax return, plus whether you have payment remarks. Ratsit calls the service “100% anonymous” and says the person you look up never finds out. Lönekollen is a page from the Ratsitkatalogen, a tax calendar that according to Ratsit includes everyone registered from age 16 and is updated four times a year. Anyone who has bought an income check can get an email when your income is updated, and the catalogue has league tables of the highest incomes per municipality.
- Kollalön. 9 kr per lookup, no account needed. The data comes from printed tax calendars and is shown rounded. Kollalön says the person you look up gets no copy and isn’t notified.
- Lönia. Shows incomes and holds a publishing certificate (utgivningsbevis).
- Upplysning.se. Shows incomes, but in October 2026 it has paused and switched off its search.
Income check or credit report?
There’s a big difference. An income check is anonymous. A credit report costs more, and at Ratsit the person taking it has to log in with BankID and have a legitimate need, for example before an agreement. You, the person it’s about, get a notice by text, letter or email.
What you can do
- Remove yourself from Ratsit’s search with BankID at ratsit.se/tabort. Here’s how. Ratsit doesn’t say whether this also removes you from the Ratsitkatalogen, so ask its customer service.
- Kollalön: use the form Ta bort / spärra mina uppgifter (remove or block my details). Give your name, street address and municipality (kommun). If you’ve moved recently, give your previous address, as the catalogues have no personal identity numbers.
- Lönia: Lönia refuses general removal requests. If you have a protected identity, it removes you when you send a personbevis to info@lönia.se, and it corrects wrong details. Lönia: Request correction (in Swedish).
- Upplysning.se: email info@upplysning.se through its contact page, even though the search is paused right now.
- Request erasure under the GDPR. The sites hold publishing certificates and often say the GDPR doesn’t apply to them. Since the EU Court’s ruling in July 2026, that is no longer a given. Keep their replies. Where the law stands now.
What remains
The details stay at Skatteverket, where anyone can still request them. People exposed to violence or threats can apply for protected personal data. Also read why your address is online, and check where you’re listed.
A simplified explanation, not legal advice.
Questions
Can anyone see my salary?
Yes. Your assessed earned income and your tax are public at Skatteverket, and anyone can ask for them. Ratsit and Kollalön also sell them for a few dozen kronor.
Will I find out if someone checks my income?
No, not on Ratsit’s Lönekollen or on Kollalön. Both say the person you look up never finds out. If someone takes a credit report on you, though, you get a notice about it.
Can I remove my income from Ratsit?
You can remove yourself from Ratsit’s search with BankID. Lönekollen is based on the Ratsitkatalogen, which according to Ratsit includes everyone registered from age 16, and Ratsit doesn’t say whether removal covers the catalogue. Ask Ratsit’s customer service.
Can I remove myself from Kollalön and Lönia?
Kollalön has a form where you can remove or block your details. Lönia refuses general requests, but removes you if you have a protected identity and corrects details that are wrong.
Can SPAR give out my income?
No, only to the Police, the Security Service and Customs. If a site shows your income, it comes from Skatteverket’s public tax records, not from SPAR.
