Remove yourself from MrKoll – now permanent with BankID

Läs på svenska

Short answer

Open MrKoll’s page “Ta bort dig från Mrkoll” (remove yourself from MrKoll) and press “Starta BankID och ta bort mig” (start BankID and remove me). According to MrKoll, you’re removed immediately and for good. It’s free.

Until recently, MrKoll only let you hide parts of your profile: your phone number, and your street address for a while at a time. Now MrKoll has a page where you remove yourself completely with BankID. In an email on 5 October 2026, MrKoll’s customer service wrote that the removal “genomförs direkt och är permanent” (happens immediately and is permanent).

The page looks new. The Internet Archive has saved MrKoll’s other help pages since 2019, but never this one.

How to remove yourself from MrKoll

  1. Open MrKoll’s page Ta bort dig från Mrkoll (remove yourself from MrKoll).
  2. Read MrKoll’s warning (more on it below) and press “Starta BankID och ta bort mig” (start BankID and remove me).
  3. Identify yourself with BankID.
  4. Afterwards, search for your name on MrKoll and check that you’re gone.

It’s free. Kolla själv builds the search for you, on MrKoll and on the other big sites.

MrKoll warns about side effects

On the page, MrKoll writes that many companies and services get personal data from MrKoll. According to MrKoll, removing yourself can affect services you use. For example, you could be refused when you sign up for a service that looks up your address automatically or runs background checks.

We haven’t been able to check how often that happens. If a service won’t accept you, ask whether you can prove your address another way.

The old page only hides part of your profile

MrKoll’s older page Hur tar jag bort publicerade uppgifter? (how do I remove published information?) is still there, and many guides online still describe only that page. With BankID, it lets you:

  • hide your phone number
  • hide your street address, but only temporarily. Your postcode and town still show.

If you’ve used that page before, you can now remove yourself completely on the new page.

MrKoll gets phone numbers from several of the big operators. Ask your operator for an unlisted number, as MrKoll itself also recommends, so your number doesn’t come back here or on other sites. Here’s how.

If you email MrKoll

If you email MrKoll asking to be removed, they reply that they first need to verify who you are, and point you to the BankID removal. If you don’t have BankID, reply and ask how else you can prove your identity. Keep their replies.

MrKoll holds a publishing certificate (utgivningsbevis) and has said before that GDPR doesn’t apply to what it publishes. In July 2026, the EU Court of Justice ruled that a publishing certificate does not by itself exempt an organisation from GDPR. Since 2025, Sweden’s data protection authority, IMY, has been investigating whether MrKoll breaks GDPR by not deleting data on request. A decision is expected in autumn 2026. More about the law.

What remains after you’ve removed yourself

  • Google. Search results that lead to your MrKoll page can stay for a while, until Google reads the page again. You can ask Google to remove them. Here’s how.
  • The Swedish Tax Agency. MrKoll’s data comes from public authorities, and it stays there. Anyone can ask Skatteverket for your address. If you need real protection, read about protected personal data.
  • Other sites. Ratsit, Hitta, Merinfo, Eniro and others show the same kind of data. Read how to remove yourself from them, or check where you’re listed straight away.

Questions

Is removal from MrKoll permanent?

Yes, according to MrKoll. Its customer service wrote on 5 October 2026 that the removal “genomförs direkt och är permanent” (happens immediately and is permanent). Check again after you move all the same. Kolla själv can add a reminder to your calendar.

Can I remove myself from MrKoll without BankID?

There’s no ready-made way. If you email MrKoll, they point you to BankID. Reply and ask how else you can prove your identity, and keep their replies.

How is this different from hiding my address?

MrKoll’s old page hides only your street address, and only temporarily. Your postcode, town, name and age still show. The new page removes your data from MrKoll.

Why do I still show up on Google?

Google shows the result until it has read the page again, which can take anything from a few days to several weeks. You can ask Google to remove the result straight away, because it shows your contact details.

Does my personal identity number disappear from MrKoll?

According to MrKoll, your data is removed, including the part of your personnummer that the site shows. The number is still on record at Skatteverket, and other sites may show your date of birth or part of the number.
