Remove yourself from Hitta.se – and why your number comes back

Läs på svenska

Short answer

Go to Hitta’s page “Ta bort kontaktsida” (remove contact page), find yourself and click “Ta bort” (remove). Log in with BankID, confirm that it’s your contact page and choose a reason. Within a few hours you’re gone. Also ask your operator for an unlisted number, or your details can be published again.

Hitta shows the name, address, phone number and much more of almost everyone who lives in Sweden. You can remove your contact page with BankID on Hitta’s own page, and it’s free. But Hitta buys data from the phone operators, so unless your number is unlisted, your details can show up again.

How to remove yourself from Hitta

  1. Open Hitta’s page Ta bort kontaktsida (remove contact page).
  2. Find yourself and click “Ta bort” (remove) next to your contact page.
  3. Log in with BankID and confirm that it’s your contact page.
  4. Choose why you’re removing your details, for example “Av privata integritetsskäl” (for privacy reasons).

Hitta says your contact details will be removed within a few hours. You can only remove your own details, not someone else’s. Kolla själv builds the Hitta search for you, so you can check afterwards that you’re gone.

Why your number can come back

Hitta says its data comes from the state population register (SPAR) and the phone operators. On its removal page, Hitta itself warns that unless you make your phone number unlisted with your operator, your details risk being published again, on Hitta and on similar services.

So ask your mobile operator for an unlisted number (“hemligt nummer”), meaning the number isn’t passed on to directory services. Then it disappears at the source, not just from Hitta. Here’s how.

Cars, income and “lives with”

Hitta shows more than your contact page, and some of it is handled in other ways:

  • Cars. The vehicle data comes from Biluppgifter.se. Hitta says you hide it by chatting with its chatbot Stella on Hitta’s customer service site.
  • Income. Lönekollen (the income check) on Hitta is run with Ratsit, and Ratsit handles the data. Questions about it go to Ratsit. Read how to remove yourself from Ratsit.
  • “Lives with”. This comes from the Swedish Tax Agency. If you’re listed with someone you don’t live with, the usual reason is that you share a flat number in the population register. Whoever is listed wrongly corrects the flat number with Skatteverket, and Hitta updates too.

Without BankID

Hitta’s own route requires BankID. Hitta says this is to prevent identity theft, and its “Jag har inte BankID” (I don’t have BankID) button only explains how to get BankID.

According to Hitta’s privacy policy, it can instead hide some of your details by agreement with you. Write to them through the chat on Hitta’s customer service site, or by post to Hittapunktse AB, St. Eriksgatan 119, 113 43 Stockholm.

Hitta also says its publishing is covered by its publishing certificate (utgivningsbevis) and therefore exempt from the GDPR, and that it doesn’t have to delete details on request. Since the EU Court’s ruling in July 2026, that is no longer a given. Where the law stands now.

If you want to show up again

If you change your mind, you can publish yourself again by logging in to Hitta with BankID and choosing “Återpublicera” (republish), or through the chat. According to Hitta, it takes up to 24 hours.

What remains

  • Google. Search results that lead to your Hitta page can stay for a while, until Google reads the page again. You can ask Google to remove them. Here’s how.
  • The Swedish Tax Agency. Hitta’s data comes from public authorities, and it stays there. Anyone can ask Skatteverket for your address.
  • Other sites. Ratsit, MrKoll, Merinfo, Eniro and others show the same kind of data. Read how to remove yourself from them, or check where you’re listed straight away.
