Short answer
If you have the Truecaller app, deactivate your account first. Then unlist your number on Truecaller’s unlisting page. It takes up to 24 hours and can’t be undone. Sync.me removes you through a form within 24 hours, and 180.se by email. Ask for an unlisted number too.
Caller ID apps often show your name when someone searches for your number, or when you call. You can remove your number yourself, and it costs nothing.
Truecaller
Truecaller holds a publishing certificate, just like Ratsit and Hitta. Here’s how to remove your number:
- Do you have the Truecaller app? Deactivate your account first. On Android, tap the profile icon and go to Settings and Privacy Center. On iPhone, tap the profile picture at the top left and go to the same place.
- Open Truecaller’s unlisting page. It first shows what you lose. Press “No, I want to unlist”.
- Enter your number in international format, for example +4670…, and confirm.
According to Truecaller, it takes up to 24 hours for the number to disappear. Think about this first:
- It can’t be undone. Truecaller says so clearly on the page.
- You lose features in the app, for example others seeing who’s calling, and the spam protection.
- Numbers marked as spam can’t be unlisted.
- If your number still shows up, it may be stored on the phone that searched for it, according to Truecaller.
Sync.me
Sync.me has a form, Remove My Info. Enter your name, email and phone number, and according to Sync.me it removes your details within 24 hours.
180.se
180.se has no button of its own for removing yourself. Its contact page says to email support@180.se if you want your personal details removed from the site.
Hitta, Eniro and the others
